VGC January General Meeting - "All About Trees"

Russell Norton, Horticulture and Agriculture Educator from the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, will present "All About Trees". 

Russell Norton is an Extension Educator for the Cape Cod Cooperative Extension’s Agriculture and Horticulture program and    the UMass Extension Landscape, Nursery, and Urban Forestry Program.  Russell provides technical expertise to agriculture and horticulture professionals as well as the general public. Russell has a strong background of education from UMass and UNH and work experience that covers both ornamentals and food crops. His primary focus is Integrated Pest Management (IPM) but covers all aspects of agriculture and horticulture.

The presentation will cover the topic of trees and storms. Tree failures are one of the most common forms of property damage as a result of many types of weather. The presentation will cover how and why trees fail, the factors that predispose trees to failure and how we can plan for a more resilient landscape.

Russell will be first on the agenda from Noon to about 12:45, followed by our general meeting.  We will start the Zoom session around 11:30 AM so that folks can connect and settle in and visit before the meeting starts.
